Gert,
I'm a HAM list subscriber, used to be more active, now I'm much more of
a "latent-status lurker"...unfortunately, times change, and lately I
haven't been able to find the time to spend on my Hammond obsession that
I used to...greetings again to all fellow list members, I'm still here!
I thought I'd reply because I just moved to Carbondale last year from
Chicago. Great little town. One of my first priorities after moving
here was to put out the feelers for local Hammond guys- players,
collectors, dealers, fellow obsessives, etc...unfortunately, there's
simply not a lot going on locally. The good news is that Carbondale is
only 2 hours from St. Louis, 3 hours from Nashville and Memphis, and 5
1/2 from Chicago. The bottom line is that if you're looking to buy a
console around here, we're close enough to 4 or 5 major cities that you
can likely find a reasonable deal and take a day trip to pick her up. I
can think of at least 4 other list members (probably many, many more) in
this radius, and I'm sure we'd be able to hook you up when you arrive.
Anyway, glad to hear that I will soon not be the only Hammond freak in
southern Illinois! Feel free to contact me directly if you have any
questions- Hammond, Carbondale, or anything else. Take care, Ross
