Hi folks, long time no post, but I'm a faithful lurker...(LOL!)

OK, so I have 2 weeks in a row with no gigs. Perfect time to tend to the worn keyboartd in the PortaB.

Last fall I picked up a nice tight L102. My plan is to remove both sets of manuals, steal contacts from the PortaB, add foldback to the L102 contact assembly, and install the L102 manuals in the PortaB.

So I got the manuals out of the L102. Opened the upper manual, got to the contacts, snipped the grounded 13 contacts and got ready to add more.

Next got the PortaB upper manual unsoldered and removed. I noticed while unsoldering that the material was plastic, not phenolic/bakelite, as was the L102. When I removed the cover, I was greeted with yellow and green laquered wire, not the white cloth-covered wire that is used in the L102 contact assembly.

Sooooo......

Can I use the laquered wire to do the foldback in the L102? Are the the same "resistance" wires in both assemblies, just different styles? Or will the L102 assembly not even work in the PortaB?

And while we're on the subject, there is a transformer mounted behind the drawbars, that is different in style between the two. The PortaB one is sealed in a can, and the L102 one is open-frame. Are these interchangeable?

Thanks!

(Folks in multiple groups may see this elsewhere.)
