[HAM] New B3 Demo

Due to my hopelessly outdated video software and download speed I've been
unable to view or listen to the comparisons between the diversi, new B3 and
the real one.... I can however guess that if such comparisons are devised by
the manufacturers, they will use settings and registrations that show their
product in the best possible light. This was even done by Hammond early
last century when they did a blindfold test with a pipe organ. In more
recent times it was done by (IMHO) Hammond Suzuki on Joey Defrancescos live
at the five spot where Jack Mcduff, even though playing a B3 with leslie
122, doesn't play with "his" sound at all but a setting that closest
resembles the XB3 without the vib/chorus on simply because the XB3 has such
a shocking vib/chorus and a terrible closed honky nasal quality.

I think the ultimate test is the Jimmy Smith setting with C3 chorus. The
higher harmonic bars (used more in gospel) tend to obliterate the subtleties
that the "jazz" setting highlights. If the diversi sound engine is
identical to the V5 then it will be unconvincing in the jazz setting.
With the 9 contacts, the new B3 would probably be better, but it really gets
down to the vib/chorus and the tonewheel crosstalk. I'd be really
interested in how it shapes up in this area.

Has anyone heard it in this capacity?

Cheers -Randal
