My father was an accordian player back in the 50's. After an accident he lost
the ability to walk without a cane and the ability to hold the accordian. He
found the S-6 and switched to that. He mastered it and used to amaze people
with what he could do on it.

I have a letter from Heintzman (Canadian Hammond distributer at that time)
asking if he would go out and do demos for them on the S-6. Unfortunatly his
health would not allow it.

The black buttons would play the chords (most of the basic major and minor
variations). The palm of your hand would sit on a bar that when depressed
would increase the volume. There were two pedals (root and fifth) controlled
by the chord you were playing. The volume was contolled by a bar that that
would be against your right leg.

I used to spend hours reading his chord charts and playing the left hand and
pedals when I was 5 or 6 years old. I didn' know how to do the right hand but
I think it did help me understand chords and chord progressions when I got
older.

It's still down in my mother's basement. Once I get my new music room built I
hope to have it sitting beside my A-100 just for the memories.
