[HAM] AO28 power transformer temperature.

As one who has burnt out two power transformers in tube amps in recent
history, I have become quite paranoid and am periodically checking my AO28
transformer temperature and it is getting quite hot.... to the state where I
almost can't keep my hand on it. Just wondering what an acceptable
operating temperature is. I am taking line output from one of the G outputs
and earth after reading in the archives not to earth the other output.
Incidentally I did have a 10K load on the other G output, but took it out
after reading the archives.

I was taking output from the PR20 in my A100, but went to the G output when
it started humming badly. (yes I will fix it eventually). The organ power
plug is housed in the PR20 chassis, but I want to use the organ without
powering this amp up...I don't want any more nasty accidents. So can I
directly bypass it by plugging the input power plug into the plug that runs
from the PR20 to the rest of the organ? The plugs are compatible but will
it go "poof"?

Becoming very cautious and scared... it took me too long to find an old
console and I don't want to lose it now!
Cheers -Randal
