Hi Kip, there are many ways that bartenders can cheat on percentage arrangements. One way is they don't consider drinks bought on a tab which many clubs do (which typically don't go into the register). Or they don't ring every drink they sell. I have always felt that "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush". But I have heard unconfirmed rumors of bands making out pretty good doing a percentage. Most of the small clubs I have played recently paid between $300 and $350 and they gave each person a drink per set. What about the tip jar? We have been in clubs where the bartender took it around and hustled the patrons and added another $100.00 to split - the difference between a $75.00 night and a $100.00 night. Many bands around here also focus on merchandising cd's and t-shirts between sets and some folks actually make more than the band gets paid doing that. [ Deleted '-----Original Message-----' ]
