[HAM] How do I get overdrive on an L-100 spinet?

Here's a quick overdrive trick.

Bypass the Chorus/Vibrato amplifier.

Yep.

OK, so you loose the Chorus and Vibrato. But they are the cheesiest part of
the L, y'know. And you're feeding a Leslie anyway, right?

A look at the schematic shows 1VoltP-P going into the C/V amp, and only
0.5VoltsP-P coming out.

You can get real good growl when you double the signal input voltage to the
power amp!

And it's all connected with RCA cables, so you don't even need a soldering
iron or wire cutters.

The "real easy" way is to get a FemaleRCA-to-FemaleRCA coupler. Just unplug
the two RCA cables from the C/V amp chassis, and use the coupler to connect
the wires to each other. Done.

That's what I did with my PortaB. That, plus added foldback to the upper
manual. My band likes the PortaB more than my '56 B3.
