     The contacts in the manuals are connected to the solder lugs via a very 
fine resistance wire. In a spinet the contact wires are all kept at 16 ohms, 
but in the consoles the wires vary in resistance to attenuate the higher tones 
as you go up the keyboard, also the lower tones are similarly attenuated. The 
first model A 's up to serial number 2500 were not tapered.
