[HAM] H100 -good or bad ?Phil Boug philip_boug at aanet.com.auMon Aug 21 19:05:30 CDT 2006
Don't do it. I did and always regretted it. I sold a great little M-101 and 145 Leslie to buy an H-100. The H-100 series have a bright 'edgy' sound that is irritating. As Scott says, they will never (believe NEVER) sound like a 3-series. Nothing like a 3-series... Not even close. L100 and M100 sound much more like a '3' than a H100. They are also hybrid tube/semiconductor technology and some of the circuits are very noisy. Floor the expression pedal on mine with hands off and it sounds like a Class 5 Hurricane. There are real problems with edge connectors on some of the boards and sections of the organ can appear or disappear at will while you are playing. The Tab keys for Vib/Chorus etc need constant cleaning to keep 'em working. If you like the sound of your L100 don't get suckered by the full manuals and pedals. I now have a '65 C3... I gave my H100 to my mother-in-law. She plays Theatre style and standards. Even she hates it and wants her old Lowery back. Don't do it.
