[HAM] Less bass to solid state leslie

Hi,

One of the rigs I'm currently using is a Leslie 860 (solid state) plus a
bass out to a pretty beefy bass head and cab.

I really like how the mids and midlows sound through the 12" lower rotor
but the very lowest tones (especially the 5 lowest pedals) are just too
much for it. I'm thinking that the right value cap in series with the
lower speaker might provide a low cut filter so the mids/lomids can be
adjusted with the Leslie "bass" control pot, while the very low bass
gets blocked.

In series with the 6 ohm bass speaker, I'm thinking that cap values in
the range of 500-200 uF would give me a low cut frequency in the range
of 50-150 Hz.

Has anybody any experience doing something similar - or any reasons why
this might not be a good idea and might damage something.

Also, while I think this would be safe for a solid state amp I'm not
sure whether it would be safe for a tube amp, if anyone can shed some
light on this point I think that would be good info for the whole list.

Thanks in advance!

Andy
