Winding to a > individual cap values wound be too time and labor intensive. The only tuning post-circuit-construction tuning that I'm aware of is magnet adjustment. My entire theory explaining the disparity of results for recap jobs was based on a misconception about Hammond's process. I hate it when that happens. Still, lots of recapped organs sound damned good to me. And still, it's just an electrical circuit without the organic magic of 300 year old spruce. If you can measure it, you should be able to reproduce it, and a big part of it is what we expect to hear. The whole foldback thing was a compromise to remedy a shortfall in volume of upper-range notes, right? Which brings up another point: If we'd been listening to plastic violins for 600 years, would that be the ultimate violin sound that would command millions of dollars? Regards, -Don, I guess the history of the accordian would indicate, no. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. Or at least the three of you still reading this thread...
