I think there are a couple of things that bail out the aging waxed caps.

One would be that the caps don't produce tone- they only affect filtering.

Another would be that since we rarely play single notes only and with one 
drawbar out- our sound is going to be coming from *many* tone wheels and 
their individaula filtering networks combined.

Then you add the fact the the tonewheels are ganged, I believe in groups of 
four to the compartment, thus "contaminated" with some tones other than the 
one tone- a lot of this washes out in such a way that a lot of these aging 
organs still sound very good.

I do own an XK-3 and like it a lot but the C3 still rules.
