I reckon you might take the original felt to a 'felt dude/person' (they 
exist)
He/they will determine what density the felt is, and sell you any amount for 
next to nuttin'.
There are three grades of industrial felt (to my knowledge) soft, medium, 
hard.

Incidentally, saddle felt is great for those other bits, y'know the music 
stand felt, fall-board stoppers,etc. For a wad punch you can sharpen a 
sturdy piece of pipe with the desired inner diameter and punch out those 
circles with ease. It'll probably be dark blue (this I like)
