[HAM] Will it go round in circles?Trevor Reynolds trevor.reynolds at insightbb.comTue Nov 28 08:24:33 CST 2006
What follows is a mystery that I have been unable solve for quite some time. Subsequently, I would appreciate any serious diagnostic guidance I might receive.
What follows is the problem:
I have a 1965ish Hammond A102 with a Trek SSP-3 solid-state preamp in it. The wires coming out of the preamp connects it to my new Leslie122A via the standard 6-pin cable.
Whenever I get fairly loud with the Leslie and start really pushing the tube amp. Both the upper horn and the lower baffle in the Leslie come to a dead stop. If I quickly turn the organ off and immediately back on then motion is resumed and everything is fine until things get loud again and I have to go through the procedure once more. This is most annoying. When the horn and baffle stop turning there is never any problem with the sound.just the stuff that was once revolving in the Leslie is no longer doing so. Whatever it is that is stopping the motors in the Leslie is fixed when I turn the organ off and then quickly back on again.
Diagnosing this problem has been most perplexing, as I don't readily see the connection between the motors and/or the motor control board in the Leslie and playing the Leslie loud. Remember, the new 122A's have the motor control board plastered to the inside wall of the Leslie and not the old style motors. If anyone might have some serious advice as to what might be causing this I would be much obliged. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Trevor
