[HAM] M3 percussion in a console?

Hi,
I saw a photo BV or B2 somewhere that had a percussion unit built from 
M3 amp, somebody just cut the amp so the percussion part with the tubes 
and transformers is sitting next to the original preamp in the console. 
I wonder if it works and could be easily made. Does anyone have 
experience with this?
