3/ That thingy is what is known as a phase plug. It keeps the driver output
from having huge peaks and valleys in the horn output. It also keeps some
frequencies from being inaudible due to phase cancellation on their way out.
And lastly it loads the diaphragm acoustically to help keep excursion under
control so it doesn't destroy itself. It is there for a reason. Keith

Subject: [HAM] speakeasy high powered driver diaphragm specs

Firstly: Does anyone here know the voice-ciol diameter of the speakeasy
driver?

Secondly: Can anyone of you dudes tell me how much they want$$ for the
diaphragm
they apparently stock? I dont wanna call them to ask coz I live in Oz and
they wont give me a figure via email. I'm told the part is not
interchangeable with another leslie drvier, why I have no idea as 'they'
(speakeasy) are not volunteering any specs.

Thirdly: Whats the dealy with the bakelite dome-spider thingy in the middle
of an upper driver,..
Wots it for then eh? I've cut one out out of curiosity and all I can deduce
is that it's quite a bit louder in the highest registers ...which I
like...hmm...I can feel a backlash of abuse coming my way.
