Hi Markus,
no, not yet. Maybe a topic for a friday night meeting this week ?
My request for comments on the topic yielded the following versions
of which one kind list member sent me mp3s and sheet music of:
Jimmy Smith (from "Any Number Can Win")
Maceo Parker (nice, I like that)
Ray Charles (the classic version, that probably made that song famous,
although the song itself is the hymn of the state Georgia if
I'm correct, isn't it?)
I myself had a video that had been posted some weeks ago of
Steve Winwood/Spencer Davis Group playing that song on a spinet Hammond
and of course I remember the version of Spencer Group with Steve on the
piano that was recorded on a vinyl album in the mid sixties.
A lot more surely exist and I'd appreciate to learn them to know.
Especially I'm interested in gospelish played versions (that is the case
with the Maceo Parker version and also on the Ray Charles recording).
Thanks for the comments.
Best,
