That has been my alibi for not "needing a TG recap on my '55 C3. It has had 
considerable periods when it had plenty of run time to drive moisture out of 
the caps.

I am sure it would soun different with new caps, not necessarily better, and 
I'd probably want to cut the treble with the pot.

One of the projects I keep puuting off is to remote the tone control from 
the preamp.....
