[HAM] Fold backMichael Fulk strangewarrior1 at earthlink.netMon Sep 18 21:48:55 CDT 2006
My opinion is that TREK II percussion is superior to the original Hammond Percussion. The second tone henerator to which you refer was the chorus generator, intended, in pipe organ terms to provide a "celeste" stop effect. Many, including me, considered it ethereally beautiful. It had 49 tone wheels which sounded sharp and flat tones to the original generator; it was turned on by a 49 gang switch operated by a single, unmarled drawbar; there were no "degrees" of chorus; however a similar effect was obtained, (in some people's opinion, not mine), by engaging the switch partially. After the invention of Hammond Vibrato, the Company decided that mixing 50%vibrato and 50%non-vibrato was suffiently close to the original, and only cost the one switch prong and a resistor. Nobody, but NOBODY, on this list EVER uses the current chorus effect for what it was intended, indeed cannot tell C-1 from C-2 from C-3 Fulk > [Original Message] > From: Gene MacDonald <genem at cushcraft.com> > To: <hammond at zeni.net> > Date: 9/14/2006 10:53:58 AM > Subject: [HAM] Fold back > > Greetings...I've recently had the opportunity to sit at an A100 and > noticed the foldback on the lower manual.
