So what "was" the intended use of the chorus? 
I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference in C1, C2 and C3.
What I think makes a big difference in using, and hearing, vibrato or
chorus, is if you're playing through a Hammond tone cabinet or through a
Leslie. They (chorus& vib) sound, and are used, very differently
depending on what you are playing through. In my opinion of course!
