[HAM] Moving an M-143ABohachewsky, Andrew V. abohachewsky at draper.comThu Sep 21 10:36:53 CDT 2006
Three people is just about right (with just two it's doable but not fun). Managed to move an A100 from my studio to the drummer's studio with just him, myself and one other dude, without much difficulty. Any stairs? And yes, definitely lock down the generator bolts. The front two are under the keybeds accessible from the front of the organ, the back two are under the shelf and accessible from the back. Take out the bolts, reverse the spacer and reinstall. You should clearly see that the tone generator which had been "floating" on a spring suspension will now be firmly attached to the shelf. If you let it float while moving it it can shake around and you're at risk of ripping some of those wire connections to it. The M-10xs are nice spinets by the way, if it weren't for the diving board keys they would get the "best spinet" award hands down. As it is I guess they're tied for first with the M3s. Only other recommendation I have for you is that now you have to get a Leslie :-) (Or at least a line out to a leslie simulator pedal). These things sound sweet through a Leslie. And for what it's worth spinets work better for bands with "separate" bass players. Enjoy! Andy -----Original Message----- to pick up a Hammond M-143A from a relatives house. Would three relatively in shape young men with a dolley be able to move it out of the house and lift it into the van? Also, I have read that you need to lock down the sound generator, or something like that.
