I am actually interested in this topic, it's just so rife with 
possibilities for jokes, I just can't help it....
I have seen the insides of far fewer Leslies, I suspect, than many of you. 
But I have *never* seen one with the wadding intact. What I commonly see is 
fiberglass insulation hanging down, by one staple, inside the main (bass) 
enclosure. So I rip it out. I always wonder about it as I throw it away.

Without having any actual facts at my disposal, my attitude has been that 
they sound just fine without it, and why do anything at all to damp the 
sound? It would be interesting to hear what Leslie's original intention was.
