Hi John and everyone.
Because of the 48 year old aged wax caps on the TG notes 49 to 91 in
Rudy Van Gelder's 1959 C3 this C3 would no longer sound the way that
it did when it was used in the classic recordings in the 1960's so this
is why I wrote in my post that it would have been very interesting to
see a TG output measurement of this 1959 C3 taken in the early 1960's
when the wax caps were still new and many classic recordings were done
with it.
A TG output curve measurement taken today would show the off spec
levels for the TG notes 49 to 91 however it would still be interesting
to see the TG output curve of this C3 because of it's historical
importance in the Hammond world. I expect that if this C3 was measured
in 1959 , the TG output curve would have followed the normal standard
pattern because apparently this was a normal stock organ.

A few years ago on Hamtech there was a somewhat comical exchange
between Al Goff and Sal Azzarelli who both have had access to this
1959 C3. Al Goff wrote that this C3 now sounds "tired" and that it
needs to be repaired and Sal Azzarelli who wrote back saying that there
is nothing wrong with the sound of this C3 and that it sounds great.

By the way , are there any recent recordings that feature Rudy Van
Gelder's 1959 C3 ?
It would be interesting to hear how this C3 sounds on today's
recordings compared to the way that it sounded in the 1960's
recordings.
All the best.
Kon
