[HAM] TG output readings aside - RVG recordings

I think it's a bit of both personally (the C-3 and leslie (prob more 
important) combined with the recording brilliance of RVG.

TG output readings aside...
I was hoping some here might be able to comment/comfirm some things I read 
about RVG recordings (hammond specific).  I heard he took a direct out (for 
the lows) and combined that with a single or stereo pair of mics (top and 
center - not the usual mic on each side for that wide spread sound).

Can anyone confirm this? Hear differently?
