There are two electrolytics in that amp, both are supposed to be 30 MFD. 
The power supply at that point is close to 450V so your cap was too small 
voltage-wise. I hope you have the schematic and are able to understand it. 
You should be using 500V caps to allow for surges and the over-voltage that 
comes out of the wall in this area. (My house voltage is 138V).

Did you put the cap in in the right direction in relation to ground?
