[HAM] CV - Starter motor not engaging TG - follow upBohachewsky, Andrew V. abohachewsky at draper.comThu Apr 19 15:38:35 CDT 2007
Dirt is most likely the culprit, though a recent post indicated that if the metal cage that holds all that together gets bent ever so slightly you get the same symptom. For dirt spray heavily with WD40 to clean the dirt out, maybe a little lighter oil once the dirt's out. Of course a little human "intervention" can help as well. My A102 occasionally exhibits this problem, but if I just turn off then immediately back on it always engages - at least so far, I assume one day I'm gonna hafta open up the back. My A100 is really bad in this way, but just a little push on the cage assembly while it's trying to engage and it starts right up. The back's been off this organ for nearly forever so that's easy - and I recently broke the return spring on the start switch making this task even easier (flip on the start, walk to the back and give a little push, walk to the front, run to on, start to off... and it's off and spinning! Good luck, Andy -----Original Message----- Any drawings available of the whole start mechanism i.e. clutch , springs , anything mechanical that might be out of alignment or worn ? David D.
