With due respect to the Hammond factory, errors and miscomprehensions
were not rare.

When Hammond implemented foam sealing for the manuals, I feel certain
they had no possible comprehension of the types of problems which
would arise long after they went out of business.

Additionally, I don't think *anyone* could predict with any accuracy
the various problems, remedies, etc, that might (or not) be required
with this instrument (or any electro-mechanical device) over decades
and decades. Quite sincerely, I don't think ANYONE at Hammond's
original facilities could even *dream* of these instruments still
being in use in 2007.

Regarding start motor engaging - I think I wrote a message a week or
2 ago. As far as I know, it's the only solution to the problem. The
axis of start motor thrust must be adjusted in some manner to ensure
more (or less) contact and alignment. It's a delicate alignment, and
from past experience, usually requires only a few thousandths of an
inch of "tweak". If I recall correctly, the original person having
that problem tried my suggestion, and it solved the problem. I could
be wrong, though.

This is another example of a minor error on Hammond's part. In my
estimation, the final "bin plate" (which is the mount for the start
motor) should have utilized TWO, not one, plates. This would have
added 100% more strength to the plate, and made start motor alignment
problems about as rare as a B3 with 7 legs. That's just my opinion.
