  Thank you Steve for all of the info  and the link to your website.
  I'd still like to see a photo or drawing of the start motor assembly.
  As a living room Hammondist living in an apartment , I'm kind of 
limited as
  far as the scope of projects I can do on these devices.
  Although I see your viewpoint , it just ain't practical , space wise , 
experience wise
or $$ wise.


  As Scott suggested , and with a link from Jeff to the howto , I tried 
lifting the manuals to access the start motor
  and found that I could only get a couple of inches of room - not 
enough for any serious manipulation or exploration.
  Or maybe I'm just intimidated by all of those little wires and the 
possibility of over stressing some of those 60
year old connections.

  I've squirted a little WD40 in there and a little oil , but with 
limited space it's hard to get to.
  So . at least for now I can get the instrument going with a little 
nudge from a wooden paint
stick , shoe horn or similar device.
