I just read this in one of the music industry trade magazines:
"50 years ago the Hammond Organ Company became the first music  
industry firm to secure a listing on the New York stock exchange. The  
pioneering organ maker earned an eye-popping $5 million on sales of  
$28 million in 1957. "
Those were the days - a Hammond in every living room! (now replaced  
by a flat screen TV with game console)
