[HAM] Fuses for the AO28 preamp.Kon Zissis kziss at ozemail.com.auWed Dec 19 16:53:21 CST 2007
Hi everyone. As part of my partial rebuild of the AO28 preamp of my recently acquired 1965 C3 I have added four fuses into the AO28 preamp. I added a 1 Amp fast blow fuse to the AC mains primary winding of the power transformer I added a 1 amp fast blow fuse between the high voltage secondary winding wire and the pin 1 of the 6X4 valve. I wired a 1 amp fast blow fuse between the pin 7 of the 6X4 valve and the HT voltage for the power supply. I have converted the AC heater filament voltage to DC by ungrounding the centre tap of the filament voltage winding section of the power transformer and then I added a PBPC 1004 bridge rectifier and a 2200 uf 25 volt rated electrolytic capacitor and then I added a 4 amp slow blow fuse between one of the wires coming from the filament winding of the power transformer and the AC input wire of the bridge rectifier. Are these four above mentioned fuses of the proper ampere rating and types ( fast blow and slow bow ) for the particular sections of the AO28 as mentioned above ? If these are not the correct fuse types for those sections of the AO28 , then what are the proper ampere ratings and fuse types for these sections of the AO28 ? Are these above mentioned four fused sections of the AO28 sufficient to fully protect the power transformer in the event of a short circuit or other damage or in the event of the 6X4 valve malfunctioning or dying ? Should I also add a fuse between the pin 6 of the 6X4 valve and the corresponding wire coming from the high voltage secondary winding of the power transformer ? I also want to add an inline fuse at the AC mains section so that the whole organ including start and run motors are fuse protected. What is the correct ampere rating and fuse type for the AC mains section inline fuse to protect the whole organ on it's own and also the correct fuse rating and type to allow for one or two Leslies connected to the organ ? Thank you in advance for a reply. All the best. Kon
