When figjams asked about the start switch, etc, hes referring to proper
hammond starting procedure (oh my god, you dont just flip a switch from off
to on?)
http://www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/HowToStartAHammond
the above page will detail it all.

When you hit the start switch, you should hear a reasonably loud motor
sound. Then after holding this switch as the hammondwiki page recommends and
turning on 'run' things should start to quiet down. then within 30 seconds
to a minute (after all the tubes are warmed up) keys should start sounding.
try pushing down both tabs that say 'drawbars' and then pulling all the
little black white and brown bars out as far as they will (gently) come out,
then push the 'gas pedal' all the way up and play some keys. please post
your results.
