[HAM] cleaning question

My goodness, Paul! How do ya do that? Hold the 31A UP to your kisser? OR
get down on your knees to shave? Just had to interject a little humor
into this cleaning bit! I caught it from Scott! Now for the serious
bit! In all my years of cleaning and refinishing Hammond organs and
Leslies, prior to re-selling them, I invariably ran into the same
problem after the previous owners had used a polish containing silicone,
as do most of the Johnston products. The silicone made the task of
refinishing, whether just a portion, if a chunk of wood had come out or
big scratch, or whether I would have to re-finish the whole cabinet. NOT
a nice job. But if one has the time, sometimes the only salvation for
the instrument. In one of the Mohawk finishing product books I had,
there was a section on what to do about getting rid of silicone fish eye
problems which occur when attempting to re-finish over a silicone waxed
wood surface. I often wished that they had a product that made the job
easier, and now I understand that they do. I would seriously recommend
Mohawk Products for any repair or refinish required. Just an old guy's
2 cents on this problem....Cheers, Doug in BC still tinkering with his
organ at 81
