The few times I've gigged on a ratchet drawbar organ it really didn't
bother me at all but it may be that the few numbers where I do a lot of
drawbar pulling/fading weren't in those set lists.

One nice thing - those ratchet drawbars do stay where you put em.

 Smooth drawbars can be added with some effort. 
Unless your style is moving drawbars constantly, ratchet drawbars work
well 
once you get used to them.
