[HAM] CV Preamp rebuild

  I've always been a  little horrified at the idea of having the power supply 
so far from  
the preamplifier  <snip> ..... I also don't  like the idea of having 300VDC 
running through a long, multi- conductor cable and think an internal B+ supply 
is a very good idea

  Yep, it was/is nutty. It may have reduced induced noise from the power 
transformer but more importantly it cut the cost of another power section with the 
added bonus of making tone cabs more proprietary. There are a couple of 
commercial B+ supplies available.
    There was a guy on this list who had a web page dedicated to this pre-amp 
rebuild. He seemed pretty professional  I wish the page was still up it may 
be cached somewhere. I cant remember his name he signed Raul Jalapeno ? Randy 
something.
