21Hs are great Leslies. Yes, it's important to know if it is still using
the EM-type speaker (look for four wires to the woofer instead of two), but
I don't know why in the world the speaker and driver need to be original.
And why should it be important that the amp still have the original paper
caps? I'd rather buy an amp that had been maintained properly, which would,
in a Leslie this old, include modern cap replacements. It's true that a
122/21H-type of Leslie ("H-hookup") needs a more expensive kit than a
45/147-type, but that's the only advantage I can think of. And John, out of
all the Leslies I have sold, bought, or seen for sale, I have NEVER seen a
control kit included. That's bizarre.
21Hs came in two flavors of amps: a 20 Watt model and a 30-35 W. The more
powerful one will have 6L6 output tubes and the 20W uses 6V6s. So that's
something you will want to check.
