NAH!!! Joey plays stock stuff, but I suppose he could have been playing a 
"New B-3." More below--

It's done all the time by turning ON the start switch. This raises the 
pitch briefly, then cause the generator to "hunt" for a few seconds. 
Usually, this effect is accompanied by a loud hum however. Groove Holmes 
used to do that a lot. It's much safer than turning off/on the run switch 
because the organ won't die on you.
