[HAM] M3 with bad starter motor?

Is the Bendix gear on the end of the starter motor withdrawing properly 
when you let go of the starter switch? If it doesn't disengage, the 
mechanism is dirty or, rarely, the spring is bad, and it will not let the 
run motor get up to speed.
