[HAM] M3 with bad starter motor?

Can you take a look at the start motor side of the TWG and find the bendix
gear on the shaft? With the organ off you should be able to slide it right
and left to engage and disengage the start motor with the TWG. If it is
stuck in the left position the start motor won't disengage and will drag the
TWG back to a stop when the switch is turned off. If the bendix is stuck,
the common fix is to spray it with a careful shot of WD-40 and scrub it with
a toothbrush until it works free, then add a thin coat of Hammond Oil. It
is also possible that the motor mount has shifted so that the bendix no
longer aligns with its mating gear on the TWG, so that it won't disengage.
If that is the case, post back for ideas about how to re-align it.

It would help if you could isolate which side of the TWG the squeal is
coming from. If its from the run motor side, be sure that the motor oil cup
has about 8 drops of oil in it (but not more). You should also be able to
isolate whether the squeal is coming from the motor/scanner side or the
first main bearing of the TWG. If its the motor scanner side, my first
guess is that an oiling thread is broken, in which case you may be able to
re-tie it, or at least oil the run motor bearing manually. If the squeal is
coming from the scanner, my guess is that its oiling thread broke, which
often requires removal of the scanner to replace the thread.

Just for kicks, you might also check the 250 ohm resistor at the power
distribution panel.
