[HAM] chopping Hammonds - your biz stinksjoe d joedoria at hotmail.comMon Jul 2 16:36:43 CDT 2007
I'm sorry - I was never commenting on his claimed tech skills or rebuilding experience...but this reply is tinged with a bit of anger at this point. Personally, i'd like to give HONEST comment to this recent reply if we're really allowing all perspectives to be out on the table. >>The A-100's I have will be used as chops if somebody does not buy them as >>there are a lot of pros and up and coming pros buying chops these days it >>seems.<< Great job ! (yes, that's sarcasm). So you alone automatically condemn any A-100/101/etc models to the chop block to turn that chop profit? I knew it of course but it looks like we're getting to the real truth now...what happened to the reply of "oh, well we only chop the ones that are in absolute horrid condition" and REQUIRE transplant/chop candidates. Wow, you are a real...something. I love moving around an A100 series organ - LOVE it! And when you run out of A100-series...what next, chop up the RT3's...then C3....then the B3s (which of course, I'm sure you already have). Gotta get that $ for your 80's looking monstrosity that doesn't even HINT at the resemblance of the sharp looking A100/101 series...nor the beauty of the B and C3. Chopped hammonds don't PLAY like a stock setup nor do they hold up like one. Hands on experience. You're chop biz is BS IN MY OPINION, I say it can go to h*ll as far as I'm concerned. I'll spread that word as well every tour made. * I'll applaud your restoration work where noted - but I fear that is few and far between. This recent reply from you reveals a bit more. >>The word is out and they are being seen and heard on stages everywhere. I >>am now on chop number 162. << hah... You get that word out, I'll be supporting the complete opposite. BTW: the chops look idiotic to me and many. Completely and utterly idiotic. Zero sophistication, zero flair or taste. Any load lightening is negligable at best..AT BEST! >>Serious players that depend on their Hammonds for their livelihood simply >>want good stuff that they can move and are tired of beat to death original >>Hammonds. << I'm as serious as death on the instrument AND I DON'T SUPPORT IT. I'll do my part in spreading the word. >>Stock original Hammonds and digitals don't cut it for many people.<< LOL...jeezuz christ. Stock "don't cut it"? Wow...when did this begin to get popular? And who would these people be again? Any SUCKER you've seen coming in HOPING to lighten the load (and getting blind promises and diminished returns when all's said and done)? >>Originals and some backline rentals are not dependable and many of these people are past the digital stage.<< LOL - nice! Oh? Says who...you? They (stock) all certainly CAN be dependable - most any organ tech can maintain a rig. No need to PAY THROUGH THE NOSE to chop for some 80's looking...."thing" as a final result. >>They have all tried this route as they are mostly seasoned music people >>and the rebuilt chops work the best for them.<< The comedy just doesn't stop. yes, i can see the quotelist now... most of these people would be the kind who know 3-4 typical rock chords and are more worried about lightening the load over playing. You can see them coming from a mile away I'd bet. They come with $ in hand to put towards a false and selfish dream...only to find drastically diminshed returns when all is said and done. How far off THAT bullseye am I? >>Guys who have chops most times don't have to backline and they love >>that!<< I'll support the backlined stock hammond biz when touring. They look and PLAY like a hammond organ. And whaddya know - every one i've backlined was in great working condition. We have 4 chops in our area...guess how well they're doing (currently in the 'we need to get to fixing that" waiting area). Maybe life on your planet is different though. >>Anyone considering a chop, mine or somebody else's, I can provide a client >>list of over 100 people who have one or more of mine who will tell you >>from experience how they worked for them.<< I'll do my best to wittle that number down as long as I play and live. >>It is always best to stay away from the dreamers and talkers opinions, and >>consult the hands on people who can supply the facts. << Ahh, always looking out for #1 (of course #1 is usually always YOU). This goes hand in hand with your suspcious lack of reply to your prices/locale of the 4 claimed 3-series hammonds. i've asked 4 times now. You aren't selling jacks**t I'm willing to bet. They're going towards another chopped monstrosity. >>As a side bar, most times my rebuilt chops are actually less money than a >>tired B-3 that somebody unloads just before it give up the ghost.<<< I'll call BS here. >>I've known people who have bought B-3's on e-Bay at $4000.00-$6000.00 that >>weren't even worth the price of a decent A-100. << Really? Who are you to tell someone what their b3/c3 purchase was to them? Who in the hell would want that type a person handling their instrument - there are plenty techs who can keep the stock hammond singing. >>How do I know? I rebuilt them after they brought them here because they >>were unhappy with them. Pretty expensive furniture as far as I am >>concerned. ---------- John<< I'll call BS here again. _________________________________________________________________ http://liveearth.msn.com
