Has anyone considered it ? It seems that the Hammond TWG organs may be
reaching a point
comparable to that of the theater organ ( the big ones .)
The only reason there are any of these theaters still around is
because of the efforts of
concerned individuals to form groups to care for and feed the beasts.
In , principal I agree with Joe D. and others on the chopping issue ,
no more are
being made , and that's the name of that tune , as Baretta used to say
.
However , here in the land of ' Bottom Line Uber Alles ' money talks
louder
then history .
The only way to balance that out is for groups of concerned
individuals to pool their
talents ( much talent here , ya'll ) and resources as a counter-weight
to the economic
factors.
How many players here would be willing to haul there rig to a school
and perform for
the kiddies on a regular basis? An expanding awareness and appreciation
for the
instrument can't but help to keep more of them healthy and singing !!
I think either seeing Steve explain some of the finer points of
Hammond technology to
some engineering/drafting students , or having Scott going over some
of the intricacies
of harmonic changes and playing technique would be a fine way to unplug
these kids
from their iPods for a while.
How may here would be willing to have quarterly regional meetings
as well as
monthly meetings locally? What an opportunity to actually see and
explore each others rigs
and learn from each other. ( Firearms and knives should be left at home
:-).

Joe and Scott want to meet in Tukwila for a root beer float or
something?
I know for a fact there are enough aficionados in the NE , the SW and
my
home state of Meechigan to get the ball rolling.
There may even be some lurking pipe organ society types here to give
us
some practical advice on the organ-izational aspects (tee-hee) , long
as we promise not to
out them to their other group :-)
