[HAM] Starter motor of my C3 is getting kind of "tired"Dave Bishop xxcaptinxx at comcast.netThu Jul 12 10:55:47 CDT 2007
The organ has one start switch and one run switch. The starting procedure is to lift and hold the start switch only for 8 seconds, add the run switch for four more seconds, and then release the start switch while keeping the run switch on. Looking from the back, the start motor is on the right and the run motor is on the left. If you have someone else lift the start switch while looking at the start motor's connection to the TWG, you should be able to see a small bendix gear slide to the left and engage with the gear on the TWG shaft. With the organ off, you can move the gear back and forth with your finger. It should slide easily, engage fully on to the TWG gear, and disengage fully on its own when you let go. If it doesn't, post back and we can tell you how to clean it. Its possible that the organ needs oiling: two teaspoons of Hammond oil in each of the two funnels located in the top center of the TWG dividing the TWG into thirds, plus eight drops in the rectangular funnel at the top center of the run motor. It may take a week to see the results. Spinning the TWG by hand should result in it turning freely at least six or eight revolutions. You could have a defect in the switches, switch wiring or the load resistor, or less likely, a dead winding in the motor. Regards, Dave Bishop ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank O.
