[HAM] AO-44-1 reverb transformer replacement

my two weeks of serching the archives is up..and i've
not found the answer....HELP.....i've found the
primary winding on AO 24956-1 ,5246342 to be infinite
in resistance....i suspect it shouldn't be that
high....ie "open"..  i think i have found a
replacement AO-24158-1 ? ( MRT-1  #003-024956 ) ? for
$118. ..Ouch.....At STF-electronics.com i  find 269jx
for $ 36.50...it has 250vac 250vac @ 60 mA and 6.3 v @
2.5 A  could/should this work ????? i've added up the
resistance in the ' power suply string ' and using V =
IR....the current in the string (regulation current ?
) is about 250 mA...does any one know how much current
the AO-44 require ????  Or has anyone found a
replacement for this transformer less than $130 after
shipping  ???????
