I don't know why they didn't release them before, but that's never stopped me from guessing. First, I doubt that Jimmy was consulted about what to release. That's not how these things work. The main thing is that his output was enormous; it probably wouldn't have made commercial sense for them to flood the market with too many JOS recordings all at once. After that, it could be that they just forgot about it.
