Reading your comments on Hammond fuses , slow blow fuse is usually
filled with a retarding stuff , mostly fine sand and they do what it
says : they retard a litle bit the blowing if there is an overflow of
current in cases like filling up capacitors from semiconductor diodes (
with low inner resistance diodes ,so provoking high surge currents for
small moments .. milliseconds !

Under these circumstances would a 'fast 'or just 'normal' fuse possibly
blow .. further are both fuses the same ,, they will blow if a continues
over current situation will remain and this will happen faster if the
current is proportiannally bigger; for instance : a fuse of 1 amp will
blow after a long time being exposed to an average of 1.1 or 1.2 amps ,
but will blow instantly if 5 amps is going throug it ; the 'slow'
blower might tolerate some milliseconds the 5 amps but will also blow if
this current wants to stay on for longer time then some milliseconds (
usually the short time to fill up capacitors to their average working
voltage

these fenomen happens mostly when people are changing or bridging high
tension (worn out )tube or valve diodes like the GZ34 for semiconductors
like the 1n4007 series ... AND FORGET TO PUT A SERIES RESISTOR IN THE
CIRCUIT TO STOP THE OVERCURRENT WHEN SWITCHING THE UNITS ON !

You can also substitute the SLOWBLO fuse by a certain resistor of
certain wattage and resistance value that also will burn out if there is
a shortcicuit or in an 'over'current condition example: 1 Watts
resistor from 1 ohm will take continuous 1 amp without problems and it
could withstand 2 amps for certain time but then, you will start to
smell something is wrong ; if a short is present in the circuit it
would instantly blow out and give you the typicul burnt resistor smell
.. this is for blind people interesting , they can't see the blown fuse
but they can smell the burntout resistor :-))

now don't lough, a blind musician would notice something's going wrong
with his B3 , smelling burning resistors instead of pure Hammond oil

Greetz from a Hammond Freak that can repair them but don't know shit
about playing them .

I can not enter the Hammond forum for whatever reason I don't know ,
but maybe you could send in this topic as some help for other ' would
be technicians '

:-)) Best regards from Belgium , Benjamin
