Hi, thanks for playing, or just listening. The "test" was quite successful
in that a lotta people got to hear and dig this old track. Of course,
that's why I do it.

Right out of the gate, Martin K. Peterson blew my whole trip by correctly
identifying the player as Freddie Roach. Close on his heels was Bill
Carson. Private mail next showed that "Bigger Than a Breadbox" Madman John
Freund knew it. "Tropical" Toussaint revealed that he knew the answer by
drinking the fifth. Or taking. You guys are too good at this.

Other guesses:
Earland, one guess. I can see why-- the style wasn't the same, but the
hard-driving bass did bring him to mind. I thought somebody might guess him.
Larry Young, one. Because of the fourth-stacks in the head and soloing, and
the flashes of octaves in the solo, I also expected this guess. Of course,
Young was "cool," and Freddie was the opposite, wearing his heart on his
sleeve.
John Patton, two guesses. Why not?
Reuben Wilson, one guess.
Dick Hyman. Funny!

The tune is called "Spacious." The record was from 1966, called "The Soul
Book." The sidemen were unknowns, but not bad. Here's a quick scan of the
album cover (yes that's right, I paid 75 cents for it back in the day):
