I have a 122A. I experienced some speed control problems. It turned out that
they were partly due to a failure of the relay (in the 122A amp) and I had
probably severed a solder connection on a motor board at sometime in
plugging or unplugging it.

You imply that you would suspect board problems to develop- actually the
conventional relay went bad as they sometimes do.

I shipped the amp and large circuit board, and motor relay boards to Smith
Music, I think at Anderson Indiana. In addittion to the trouble shoot, They
upgraded the power supply by doing a few changes so that it now has the
current same potential as current 122A's, more similar to the power (to the
plate supply) provided by the amps with the OC3 tube.

I was concerened that the main board was bad, but it was not.

Between changing the bass speaker to current model and the above upgrade, I
would say the speaker sound quality has been improved from the original.

Jim Brown of JB Organ at Stoughton, WI had a new B3 in his salesroom hooked
to a 122 and a 122XB. He stated he liked the 122XB slightly better!
