Plus, and this has bugged me every time this issue comes up, even if it were cost-effective, what H-S is being criticized for here is pretty similar to what Hammond did with the spinets. How much would it have cost them to put foldback into an M3 or provided an extra octave in the bass? Almost nothing, really, but then the M3 is much more in competition with the B3, and while they're making some profit on the M3, it's the people buying the B3s who are covering the sunk costs and keeping the company in business. Move too many of those buyers to the cheaper model and the whole operation loses money. I think this is just one of those weird things you see in a free market.
