[HAM] Volume pedal for chop

I've seen all kinds of wild ways to get the volume pedal to work with a chop, including bicycle cables, arms rotating pots, etc. I'm doing another chop where I'm retaining the AO28. Anyone have a good suggestion how to do a volume pedal? Rods and cables seem a bit unreliable for my tastes. Anyone ever tap into the AO28 somewhere with a simple rotary pot?
