[HAM] I would like to have been a jazz DJ.John Freund organguy at nj.rr.comFri Mar 16 16:53:17 CDT 2007
Scott man, You should (don't you hate when people start sentences like that?) see about doing something on that order over at Hammondbeat.com! There's a bunch of afficionados over there and they support ALL kinds of Hammond music. I think they're based in Wash near Portland. Probably wouldn't be a LIVE thing but you've got the technology to put together (let's say) an hour show of some reeee-dikkalus stuff, known and unknown on some sort of periodic basis. Your skills as a librarian and your knowledge and depth of both the musicology and music theory are proven and (I think) indisputable and your opinions are sound (even if they're NOT indisputable - whose aren't?! winky-winky). Not to mention being erudite and phunny! Plus you're a real effing character. And - you've met most of these guys and know/knew a bunch of them. You'd be sort of a Hammond-specific Phil Schapp - except you'd be engaging. I, for one, would loooove to hear that. I almost sent this to you privately, but...I didn't. Instigatingly, John > I spend hours playing records and stuff for my friends, > (don't I Buck?), no charge. That's total fun for me. I would > like to have been a jazz DJ.
