Hey Dave,
"Bashin'" opens just fine over here. Outhouse Express is notoriously bad 
for reading newsgroups though. Look for a setting in there somewhere having 
to do with decoding messages or files. I'd try to help more than that, but 
I've been using Forte Agent for newsgroups for years now. Let me know if 
you can't get it going-- I'll e-mail you the (relatively small) PDF.
